At last! We can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. The Leisure Centre re-opens to the public on 15th October 2013. True to their word it is 12 months since they closed and short of some major and unforeseen disaster they will open on time.

Latest Update and Report
On 15th May, Mansell and Malcolm visited the Leisure Centre Site on the invitation of Mike Locke, NKDC Council. We were shown the latest working drawings and given a progress report on how the work is proceeding. We also had a look inside the site. Points from the visit as follows:
1. The pool has been completely stripped out and the profile changed to give a larger shallow area before it dips away towards the deep end.
2. The internal walls have all been removed so that the new layout can be incorporated.
3. The old dressing rooms have gone and in their place will be a new 'changing village'. The area is unisex with cubicles and separate showers. This is no problem for us but one of the visitors was somewhat worried by this arrangement.
4. The remaining bit of the outside yard has been incorporated into the building and contains the Sauna, Steam and a children's splash pool. The design for the splash pool is wonderful, children will love it.
5. The gym now extends into the old studio so it is L shaped
6. The new studio is in what was the gents changing room, this gives a slightly larger area than before.
7. Wet and dry side are completely separated and only one access to the pool will increase safety.
8. Most important. The facility will re-open in October. See the new dates for the Club below.

END OF 2012
It has been an eventful year with the Leisure Centre closing three months earlier than previously notified, however, with some luck and hard work the committee were successful in sorting out a programme for the twelve months of the closure. There has been a slight fall off in numbers since October but that could be down to seasonal changes as much as the extra travelling.
The annual dinner at the Tally Ho was a mixed success. 28 members and guests attended and the atmosphere was very good. Regrettably the service was not up to the mark and some, including the writer, were less than satisfied. We will be looking for an alternative venue for next year. If you have any suggestions, please pass them on to the committee.
The last swim was the poolside party at Sleaford Fitness Centre. As always this went down very well and the two girls on duty were very helpful as usual. Good to see that one of them won a prize in the raffle.
Our next meet is at Sleaford Fitness Centre on 12 Jan. So have a very Happy Christmas and we will see you in the New Year.

END OF MONTH ONE
As they say "The proof of the pudding is in the eating". Our first month of the new schedule was October and we enjoyed two successful swims so the next year is looking good.
Talking of eating. Next on the agenda is the Christmas Dinner,. The venue is booked at the Tally Ho Inn, same as last year and with the same superb chef in charge. As usual the cost of the dinner is subsidised by the Club so you only pay £17 each. The date of the dinner is Saturday 1 Dec so we need to finalise the details ASAP. Speaking for myself the hardest part of this exercise is choosing from the extensive menu, it's two pages. The event is open to everyone, members and visitors with their guests (It is textile). So, see any committee member and book your place or you can email me on our new email sleafordnude@gmail.com .Bon Appetit!

Au Revoir Sleaford Leisure Centre
We had our last swim in the old Leisure Centre on Saturday 22 September 2012. In order to mark this red letter day it was decided that there would be no charge for admission, much to the surprise of the members when they arrived. There was a good crowd of the regulars present and the Centre played it's part, going out with a bang. The Sauna and Steam Room had broken down during the previous week and on the night the pool heating had taken a walk on the wild side (like it was $0&ing chilly). We say "Au Revoir" not "Goodbye" because we will be back when the work is finished in October 2013.
Next meeting is at the Sleaford Fitness Centre on 13 October. It's only a small pool and very suitable for children. Don't forget also the earlier time of 6:30pm. Look forward to seeing you there.
On an admin note. The Swim has set up a new email in order to separate it from personal mails so in future the contact email for Sleaford Swim is: sleafordnude@gmail.com

One Last Swim To Go
The last swim at Sleaford Leisure Centre is on Saturday 22 September. Because there are 5 Saturdays in September 2012, there will then be a two week break until the first event at Sleaford Fitness Centre, on 13 October. After this we will be continuing with the Sleaford & Bourne combo as published in the previous posting. Actually we are all looking forward to this as it will be something different. That said; we are especially looking forward to returning to our own home at the Leisure Centre once the refurbishment is complete.
As always we will be very happy to welcome visitors to our events at both centres. You don't need ID you don't need an appointment, just turn up with your towel.
Talking of towels, the sitting out area in the foyer of Sleaford Fitness Centre has rather comfy upholstered seating. We do not want to spoil the covers so please bring an extra towel which can be kept dry for sitting on in the foyer.
