2022 dates and other info

We look forward to 2022 and for the time being we will continue to meet on Friday nights.  This could change in the future but one has to start somewhere.

The other change the committee are bringing in is that the "First Timers Nights" are being discontinued.  Instead it has been decided that First Timers can wear a costume on their first visit at any of our swims.  Subsequent visits have to be in accord with our nude policy.

We welcome visitors to our events you do not have to book before-hand so just turn up with your towel and a committee member will sign you in and show you round.  Please Note: we do not ask for ID but we do require you to fill in a simple form and be honest.  Cost £8 per adult

We are also children friendly and have the greatest kid’s corner you could imagine.  The children are free when attending with the family and there is no school next day so bring them along.

SLEAFORD SWIM SESSIONS RESTARTING

It has been a long time coming but at last we are able to look towards restarting our sessions.  However, and it is a big "but", there are changes and restrictions.

First problem is that there is a shortage of staff at the pool and we are not able to meet on a Saturday,  After discussions with the pool manager we have agreed that we can meet on Friday evenings at our usual time of 20:00 until 22:00.  This may be changed at a later stage but for the rest of this year at least it will be Friday.

Again staff shortage has dictated that they cannot accommodate us until after the Summer break so the first meeting will be Friday 10th September.  The sessions will be open to visitors as well as members but everyone may be subject to having their temperature checked.  We have a "forehead gun"  Other 'track and trace' measures should not be needed because our data base has the required details already

Because they have not found a satisfactory method of sterilizing some areas, to begin with the sauna, steam room and gym will NOT be available.  Obviously this may change but there is no time scale at this time.

Patience is a virtue

As we approach the end of lockdown and more events are becoming available we are receiving more and more enquiries as to when we can start to meet again.  Now the committee are good at what they do but clairvoyance is not one of their skills, mores the pity.

As things stand it looks as if our earlier forecast of July 24 is still the most likely date but this is subject to the road map conditions.

Patience Moriaty Patience

Peter Tinkler

It is with sadness we learn of the death of Peter Tinkler.  Peter was the second chairman, after Gordon Clarke, and served for several years in this role.  As such he was instrumental in shaping the club as we know it today.  Lately Peter used to attend on an irregular basis because of his wife's medical problems.  It is understood that Peter went into hospital for a heart operation but did not survive the procedure.

CAN YOU SEE A LIGHT?

As we begin to get on top of Covid and restrictions are being eased the obvious question is "when can we start to meet again?"

We are indeed fortunate that in the UK the government policy has been to get as many people vaccinated as possible in the shortest possible time.  At the time of writing well over half the adult population has received at least one dose of the inoculation and a large number have received two.  BUT we are not out of the wood yet.  True gyms and swimming pools are opening but there are still restrictions on numbers. The Sleaford Leisure Centre  website states that individuals can swim on a pre-booked slot.  As it was last summer individuals arrive, having showered at home and wearing their costume under their clothing.  They can then swim, shower and go home.  This in no way allows us to have our meetings.

If the Government Road Map holds good, the Committee expects that we may be able to restart operations on the second swim of July.  That is Saturday 24th July.  But please note this is our best guess and it may well change as time goes by.  We will try to keep you informed by this blog.  Once we have more definite information be sure that we will tell you; on the blog and by mass email.

Can you see a light at the end of the tunnel?   Well yes! but it is still a fair way off
